Ricky Davis Biography

After playing just one season of college ball at Iowa, Ricky Davis played in 46 of 50 games for the Charlotte Hornets as an NBA rookie in 1998-99 and appeared in 48 games in his second season, primarily off the bench. The 6-foot-7 swingman earned honorable mention All-Big Ten honors after setting an Iowa freshman record by scoring 464 points in 1997-98. He averaged 15.0 points per game on .466 shooting from the field and also contributed 4.8 rpg and 2.4 apg in 31 games. An early entry candidate for the NBA Draft in 1998, Davis was selected by Charlotte on the first round, the 21st pick overall. He made 46 appearances as a rookie, all but one off the bench, and averaged 4.5 points and 1.8 rebounds in 12.1 minutes per game. Although his playing time was limited for most of the year, he saved his best game for last, tallying a career-high 32 points against Boston in the final game of his rookie season He appeared in 48 games in 1999-2000, making four starts, and averaged 4.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game.
